According to data updated on Wednesday by the Union Health Ministry, 62,224 new coronavirus infections were reported in a single day, bringing India’s total number of COVID-19 cases to 2,96,33,105, with active cases falling below nine lakh after 70 days.
The COVID-19 death toll rose to 3,79,573 with 2,542 new deaths, according to figures updated at 8 a.m.
The number of active cases has dropped to 8,65,432 cases, accounting for 2.92% of all infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has improved to 95.80%.
Over the course of 24 hours, the COVID-19 caseload has decreased by 47,946 cases.
For the 34th day in a row, recoveries have outnumbered daily new cases. According to the data, the number of persons who have recovered from the sickness has increased to 2,83,88,100, with a case fatality rate of 1.28 percent.
So far, the Nationwide Vaccination Drive has administered a total of 26,19,72,014 COVID-19 vaccine doses.
On August 7, India’s COVID-19 tally surpassed 20 lakh, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5, and 50 lakh on September 16. Cases exceeded 60 lakh on September 28, the 70 lakh mark on October 11, the 80 lakh mark on October 29, the 90 lakh mark on November 20, and the one-crore mark on December 19. On May 4, India passed the dreadful 2 crore mark.
