People have generally faced so many hardships in the year 2020 and still continuing in 2021 that everyone is eagerly waiting for 2022. However, there are restrictions in every place for New Year’s eve because of the covid 19 pandemic.

A night curfew has been implemented to control the spread of the coronavirus in Mumbai. Different protocols have been put in different places depending on the situation of Covid-19 in the particular place.

A group of more than four is not allowed and there will be cops at every place to ensure the safety of the public with respect to covid 19 cases. Parties on terraces, boats, and banquet halls are not allowed in the city on December 31st night.

A senior police officer has said that “We have formed a special squad that will keep a watch on private properties for parties on December 31. While the terrace is commonplace for New Year parties, it’s not allowed this time due to an increase in Covid cases.”

Another officer said that “It’s impossible to check each and every society but if any party is organized on the terrace it will be easily visible from outside. Our beat marshals and the special squad will keep an eye on such parties. If any society or any group of people is found partying, they will be booked under section 144 CrPC.”

“If some fellow flatmates gather to wish each other, then it is no issue, but do not organize events or parties as the situation is not conducive. Else we will take action,” the police said.

Along with passenger limits, the Mumbai police will also ensure no one is driving drunk, overspeeding, or indulging in any unruly behavior.

Due to lockdown measures restaurants, pubs and clubs are shut for the general public. Essential services, however, will continue as always. This means delivery of food by platforms like Swiggy and Zomato as well as directly from restaurants will be allowed.
