After Lavanya’s death, a new case has been coming forward regarding forcible religious conversion. A Karnataka man has filed a complaint against his father-in-law and relatives for forcing him to embrace Christianity.

24 years old, Marappa hails from Budga Jangam Colony in Aravind Nagar. He alleged that his wife’s relatives are not allowing him to see his wife and their newborn baby. He also alleged that he is being threatened and tortured to get converted to Christianity to see his family.

Marappa also narrated his marriage day’s incident on July 6, 2020. His in-law’s forced him to take a dip in holy water and declare him a Christian. They also burnt and tore some religious pictures and asked him not to worship Hindu gods.

Talking to the Times of India, he said that his wife Sarala and her family started practising Christianity some five or six years back. He also said that he was married to Sarala as per Christian customs. His father told his wife to leave Christianity and come home within three months. But her father did not allow her to get back to Hinduism, he said.

The accused family also told him that Hindu Gods are evil and he’ll go to hell for worshipping them. The accused are Vasanthkumar, Sarala’s father, Sudhakar, Manjunath and Sankappa, her relatives.

Sarala went to her house during pregnancy on 2 December 2021. However, no one told him about his child’s birth. When he went to the hospital, the accused didn’t allow him to meet them, he told police.
