India to host 2023 IOC Session in Mumbai

India on Saturday won unopposed, the bid to host the 2023 session of International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) session on Saturday during the 139th Session of IOC session held in Beijing, China. 

The news is a matter of joy and proud for the entire country but particularly the Indian delegation which comprises, Abhinav Bindra, Olympic Gold Medalist in Shooting (Beijing,2008), Mrs. Nita Ambani, President Narinder Batra, and Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, Anurag Thakur, who made the presentation before the IOC members during the meeting. 

The 2023 IOC session would be the second IOC session in India, India last held an IOC session in the year, 1983. 

IOC & It’s Functions

The IOC session is the general meeting of the members of the IOC, IOC is the supreme administrative body which takes decisions regarding conduct of Olympics and various other administrative decisions related to Olympics. The ordinary meeting of IOC is conducted every year whereas the extraordinary meeting can be conducted at the direction of the President or if one-third members of the IOC request the President to be conducted. 

The IOC comprises of 101 members with voting rights, additionally there are 45 honorary members with and one honorary member without a voting right. In addition to this, senior representatives from more than 50 international sports federations also attend the IOC meeting.
