“Football is fully united here and in full solidarity with all the people affected in Ukraine,” the governing bodies of football said.
“Both presidents hope that the situation in Ukraine will improve significantly and rapidly so that football can again be a vector for unity and peace amongst people.”
While international sports bodies moved to further isolate Russia, the International Olympic Committee recommended banning Russian and Belorussian athletes from major tournaments.
Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin has been stripped of his honorary Taekwondo black belt for mounting an assault in opposition to Ukraine. The was made through World Taekwondo on Twitter
“World Taekwondo strongly condemns the brutal attacks on innocent lives in Ukraine, which go against the World Taekwondo vision of “Peace is More Precious than Triumph” and the World Taekwondo values of respect and tolerance,” the statement said.
On Tuesday, World Taekwondo withdrew the black belt which was conferred to Russian president Vladimir Putin in November 2013. Those actions were taken in response to the recent Russia Ukraine war. Ukraine and Russia have been at war for six days now. As part of their attempt to advance into Kyiv, Russian forces launched a vacuum bomb on Monday.

This body has withdrawn the honorary 9th dan black belt given to Vladimir Putin. We are with the people of Ukraine, and we hope that this war can be ended peacefully and immediately. The body released a statement strongly condemning the brutal attacks on innocent lives in Ukraine. They said that these attacks go against the vision of World Taekwondo and its values of respect and tolerance.
“In solidarity with the International Olympic Committee, no Russian or Belarusian national flags or anthems will be displayed or played at World Taekwondo events. World Taekwondo and the European Taekwondo Union will not organize or recognize Taekwondo events in Russia and Belarus”. The statement made by official bodies.
Vladimir Putin’s lost honorary status
The International Judo Federation made the statement that; “In light of the ongoing war conflict in Ukraine, the International Judo Federation announces the suspension of Mr. Vladimir Putin’s status as Honorary President and Ambassador of the International Judo Federation,” before he lost his Taekwondo black belt. It was the IJF back in 2008 that bestowed its honorary status on Putin, who is a world-class judo champion with a black belt to his name.
