The Bombay High Court on Monday asked the BMC whether or not there is a policy to keep a check on the mushrooming of illegal eateries. The said development happened post a petition filed by the Indian Hotels and Restaurant Association which have contended that a lot of leading food service providers are picking food from these illegal eateries and selling it to the end consumer. They contended that these eateries have grown in large numbers particularly after the COVID19 pandemic and have filed a prayer before the High Court to take stern actions against them. The BMC is yet to file its reply in the Hon’ble High Court and it would be interesting to see how this entire development pans out.
