South African rapper AKA was shot and killed in Durban on February 10, 2023. His family confirmed the news of his passing via his social media handles. The statement issued by his parents, Tony and Lynn Forbes, expressed their sadness and confirmed that they are waiting for further details from the Durban police.
According to police sources, AKA was the victim of a drive-by shooting. He was reportedly visiting a popular restaurant in Durban when the shooting took place, killing him and injuring his bodyguard. Another person also sustained injuries from the shooting.
AKA, whose real name was Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, was known for his music and had a large following on social media. He recently promoted his upcoming album “Mass County” on social media and had been actively tweeting about it.
