Actor Javed Khan Amrohi Passes Away in Mumbai Due to Lung Failure

Actor Javed Khan Amrohi, known for his roles in popular Bollywood films such as Andaz Apna Apna and Lagaan, died on Tuesday due to lung failure. The actor had been undergoing treatment in Mumbai for a breathing ailment for the past year. He was 67. Javed had also appeared in over a dozen TV shows and more than 150 films during his career.

Filmmaker Ramesh Talwar confirmed Javed’s death and said that the actor was an active member of the Indian People’s Theatre Association (IPTA). Actor Akhilendra Mishra, who had worked with Javed, also expressed his condolences on social media, calling him a “best actor, senior artist, active member of IPTA”. Actor Danish Husain also mourned Javed’s death on Twitter.

Javed Khan Amrohi started his career with theatre after graduating from the Film and Television Institute of India. He had played the role of barber Karim in the popular 1980s TV show Nukkad. In Andaz Apna Apna, he played the role of Anand Akela – one of the suitors of Raveena Tandon’s character. In Lagaan, he portrayed the cricket commentator. He had also appeared in Hum Hain Rahi Pyaar Ke, Laadla, and Ishq. Javed had also acted in both parts of Mahesh Bhatt’s Sadak and the critically acclaimed 1988 TV series Mirza Ghalib.

Javed Khan Amrohi’s death has been mourned by several members of the film fraternity. He is remembered as a talented actor who left a lasting impression on Indian cinema with his diverse roles. His contributions to theatre and Indian cinema will be remembered for years to come.
