Payel Halder, Mumbai Uncensored, 23rd February, 2023:
Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut has delayed the release of her upcoming film, Emergency, by one month, after Amitabh Bachchan and Tiger Shroff announced the release of their film, Ganapath, on October 20. In a tweet, Kangana said she had initially planned to release her film on the same date but decided to postpone it after seeing that the entire month of October was free. She also took a swipe at the “Bollywood mafia gang,” suggesting they were having panic meetings over the clash of the release dates.
“When I was looking for a date for Emergency release, I saw this year’s movie calendar is pretty much free, probably because of setbacks Hindi industry is having, based on my post-production timelines I zeroed down on 20th October, with in a week T series owner Bhushan Kumar announced his film on 20th October, entire October is free so is November, December and even September, but today Mr Amitabh Bachchan and Tiger Shroff announced their ambitious project on 20th October, ha ha lagta hai panic meetings ho rahi hai Bollywood mafia gangs mein,” she wrote.
Kangana further added that she would announce the release date of Emergency only one month in advance with the trailer itself, and questioned why the industry was so self-destructive, even when the entire year was free. Her tweet came after Tiger Shroff dropped the teaser of Ganapath, which also stars Kriti Sanon and Amitabh Bachchan. Additionally, T-Series’ Yaariyan 2 will also release on October 20.
Ganapath, set in a post-pandemic, dystopian era, features Tiger Shroff in a rugged black outfit with a flaming tattoo bearing the release date. The teaser also hinted at a conflict between two characters, with Tiger saying, “Mujhe na ladai pasand hai aur na hi ladne wale. Soch raha hoon dono mein se kise khatam karu.”
Overall, Kangana’s decision to delay the release of her film has caught the attention of fans, especially as it came with a scathing remark towards the “Bollywood mafia gang.” It remains to be seen if the three films will clash at the box office later this year.
