Nutan Jadhav, Mumbai Uncensored, 1st March 2023:
Indian Bollywood actress Kajol Devgn recently said that timeless romantic and family-based films like Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge and Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham cannot be remade again in this generation because phenomenal movies are only created once.
South-based website claimed that actor Vijay Deverakonda would appear in the Aditya Chopra-directed sequel, but Yash Raj films denied this information. Everyone immediately guessed that it was the iconic DDLJ, which, in the words of Kajol, “is still running our hearts even 27 years after its release” and is still showing in Maratha Mandir.
According to News 18, when Kajol was questioned about her true opinions regarding the remake of DDLJ, she responded that since the film is an iconic 90s classic that continues to be seen today, she believes there is no need to remake it because viewers will undoubtedly draw comparisons between the original and the new version.
She was impressed by how well the film industry is doing today at maintaining a healthy gender balance and how many women are emerging in this age with outstanding work talent and acting prowess. She makes this assumption because, while initially the Bollywood business was entirely male-oriented, the landscape has completely changed.
