Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants announced the winners of their 11th edition, sparking excitement in the culinary world on the 28th of March 2023. Among the esteemed list, three Indian restaurants stood out, proudly representing their country. Mumbai’s Masque restaurant took the top spot in India, securing the 16th position overall. Meanwhile, Delhi’s Indian Accent made its mark at 19th place, and Avartana at ITC Grand Chola in Chennai was ranked 30th. Sponsored by S. Masque, an ingredient-driven restaurant led by the visionary entrepreneur Aditi Dugar, is situated within one of Mumbai’s historic textile mills. This innovative eatery boasts a unique 10-course chef’s tasting menu, a pioneering concept in India that seamlessly blends tradition and innovation. It made it’s debut on the esteemed list in 2021. It received the One to Watch Award in 2020. It was ranked 21st the last year.

The official Instagram account of the awards declared this news by stating, “”One of India’s most forward-thinking restaurants, Masque’s raison d’etre is to show off the wealth of India’s produce, extracting maximum flavour from local ingredients in a 10-course tasting menu served in a stylish former textile mill in Mumbai.”

Indian Accent, a culinary gem, presents a masterful fusion of Indian cuisine and global ingredients and techniques. Under the guidance of Chef Manish Mehrotra, the restaurant’s contemporary Indian menu showcases the freshest seasonal produce and exotic ingredients from around the world. For a complete dining experience, the restaurant offers a six-course Chef’s Tasting menu that perfectly pairs each course with a selection of wines sourced from India and beyond.

It has been the best restaurant in India for seven years in a row, from 2015 to 2021, according to the same list. The restaurant shared the good news through its Instagram page with caption, “We embarked on our journey to create an inventive Indian restaurant and thanks to all of you, that journey still continues successfully 14 years later”.
