Mira Bhayandar: In a significant drug bust, the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) of the Mira Bhayandar-Vasai Virar (MBVV) police has apprehended two individuals, including a Tanzanian woman, with mephedrone (MD) valued at over ₹2 crore. The arrests were made following a tip-off and a subsequent operation led by Police Inspector Amar Marathe.

The ANC set up a sting operation near the regional transport office (RTO) in the Ghodbunder area, where they detained Saud Siraj Syed, 37, a resident of Beverly Park in Mira Road, and Sabrina Nuzumbi, 34, from Kariakoo village in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania. Sabrina had been residing in the Pragati Nagar area of Nallasopara. During the operation, officers discovered 1009 grams of MD hidden in their bags, amounting to a street value of ₹2.01 crore.

Both suspects face charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, and an additional charge under Section 14A of the Foreigners Act, 1946, for allegedly overstaying their visa. Investigations are ongoing to determine the source of the drugs and potential buyers. The duo has been remanded to custody after appearing in court on Monday.
