A shocking incident has come to light in Bhayandar where a 30-year-old man has been arrested for brutally attacking a 23-year-old woman. The accused, identified as Deepak Govind Mali, allegedly stalked the woman from a railway station before assaulting her with a blade in the Sai Baba Nagar area.
The woman, employed at a call center, was returning home late at night when she was subjected to the horrifying attack. Despite sustaining injuries to her left hand and facing severe trauma, she managed to report the incident to the Navghar police station two days later.
Acting swiftly, the Mira Bhayandar-Vasai Virar (MBVV) police’s crime branch launched an investigation, utilizing CCTV footage and informant networks to identify and apprehend the accused. Mali, a part-time singer, was found to have a criminal history, having been previously arrested for a similar offense.
The police have registered a case against Mali under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for stalking, assault, and causing grievous hurt. The incident has sparked outrage and raised concerns about the safety of women in the area.
Authorities are urging citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the police immediately.
