On the occasion of Women’s Day, we honour ten exceptional Indian women leaders whose vision, courage, and relentless pursuit of excellence are shaping the nation’s present and future.
Across diverse fields and industries, these trailblazers have broken barriers, challenged conventions, and redefined what leadership truly means. Their journeys are not just stories of success, but powerful testaments to resilience, purpose, and the transformative impact of women who lead with conviction.
Masaba Gupta, Founder – House of Masaba
Masaba Gupta, renowned as one of India’s foremost fashion designers, has carved an inspiring path in the industry, overcoming challenges tied to her mixed heritage with unwavering determination. The daughter of veteran actor Neena Gupta, Masaba embarked on her fashion journey at just 19, debuting with a collection at Lakme Fashion Week. Armed with a degree in Apparel Manufacturing and Design, she initially explored the world of dance, earning accolades in college.
Masaba’s innate flair for fashion, coupled with a passionate attitude, led her to recognize her true calling. Balancing creativity, commercial appeal, and functionality, she founded ‘House of Masaba,’ her eponymous label that has garnered widespread acclaim. Breaking barriers, she became the first Indian designer to host a fashion show on Instagram, showcasing her innovative approach.
Despite initial challenges, Masaba’s persistence and creative prowess have seen her collaborate with renowned fashion brands.
Priyanka Haria, Founder & graphic designer – The Motif Story
Priyanka Haria is the founder and graphic designer behind The Motif Story, a design studio specialising in luxury wedding invitations and print stationery. Through bespoke digital and printed elements, she crafts thoughtfully designed pieces that set the tone for a couple’s wedding and translate their vision into refined, aesthetic storytelling.
Her journey into the wedding design space was driven purely by passion. With a deep love for design, aesthetics, and artistic expression, Priyanka is entirely self taught. She built her skills through hands-on experience, experimenting, making mistakes, refining her style, and improving with every project. What began as a creative outlet gradually evolved into a full fledged business rooted in intention and detail.
She launched The Motif Story in 2022, and since then, the growth has been both organic and purposeful. In the early days, she created designs and shared them on Instagram, slowly attracting attention and building credibility. Recognising the importance of collaboration, she invested time in nurturing relationships with wedding planners and industry professionals. These connections opened doors to work alongside some of the most respected names in the wedding space and helped her steadily establish her brand.
Entering the industry without a formal background meant that everything was a learning curve, from building networks to managing client expectations. The absence of a mentor made the journey more challenging, yet it also strengthened her resilience. Navigating these obstacles pushed her to become more assertive, confident, and clear in her creative direction. She takes pride in having built her journey largely through persistence and self belief.
Beyond her studio, Priyanka finds inspiration in art, design, and creative environments. She values personal growth and wellness, drawing creative energy from travel, workouts, and everyday moments that spark fresh ideas.
Her message to aspiring entrepreneurs is simple and practical. Consistency is key. Show up even when you feel uncertain. Do not wait for perfection before you begin, because perfection develops through practice. For Priyanka, success lies in building something meaningful through passion and perseverance, where the journey itself becomes the greatest reward.
Sonia Mehta, Co-Founder – Aesthetically Speaking
Sonia Mehta is the Co-Founder of Aesthetically Speaking, a social media and branding agency built on a strategy-first foundation. At her core, she is a brand and growth strategist, working with established brands and emerging startups on brand positioning, go-to-market strategy, and sustainable growth frameworks that align creativity with commercial impact.
Her journey began in 2015 when a friend introduced her to the concept of copywriting. That single conversation sparked her entry into content writing, which soon evolved into digital marketing and brand servicing roles across agencies such as FoxyMoron, Flarepath Digital Solutions, and The Quarter. She worked with brands across e-commerce and marketplaces, OTT and digital entertainment, retail and home furnishing, aviation, consumer durables, hospitality, and large-format retail destinations.
As she progressed, Sonia realized her real interest was not just in campaign execution but in understanding the business behind the brand. She became deeply invested in revenue models, positioning, long-term strategy, and commercial sustainability. In 2020, with clarity and experience, she co-founded Aesthetically Speaking with her friend Aangi, aiming to build a strategy-led creative agency.
Her journey has been intentional and layered. From client servicing to leadership roles handling P&L and revenue targets, she learned the value of responsibility and relationship building. Fairness and transparency remain core principles at her agency. Growth, for her, is measured not just in numbers but in trust, sustainability, and mutual respect. She has also returned to her alma mater, Jai Hind College, as a guest lecturer, staying connected to evolving perspectives.
Her biggest inspiration is her parents. Her mother’s continued passion for work and her father’s unwavering discipline shaped her work ethic. As a woman in business, she has faced subtle challenges, particularly in financial and strategic conversations where proving commercial capability sometimes requires extra effort. With strong support from her husband, she has learned to lead with conviction and empathy without diminishing herself.
Beyond business, Sonia is trained in Bharatanatyam and has represented India at international folk festivals across Italy, Turkey, Greece, France, and the Czech Republic. Dance has shaped her discipline and composure under pressure.
Her message is clear: build for value, not validation. Understand the fundamentals of business. Do not fear slow growth. And never shrink yourself to fit a room. If the room feels small, build a bigger one.
For Sonia, success is not a fixed destination. It is about meaningful work, honest leadership, impact, and empowering those who grow alongside her. Everything else follows.
Dr. Priyanka Bhoi, Cleft & Craniofacial Surgeon
Dr. Priyanka Bhoi is a Cleft and Craniofacial Surgeon with an MDS in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a Fellowship in Cleft and Craniofacial Surgery. She currently serves as a Consultant Surgeon in the Department of Cleft and Craniofacial Surgery at Jaiprakash Hospitals, Rourkela, where she is involved in complex reconstructive procedures that transform both lives and futures.
Her journey into this highly specialised field began after completing her BDS, when she developed a strong interest in surgical sciences. She pursued MDS in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery to strengthen her surgical foundation. However, her deeper calling emerged through reconstructive surgery, particularly in restoring function and confidence to patients born with cleft deformities. This led her to undertake a Fellowship in Cleft and Craniofacial Plastic Surgery at GSR Hospital, Hyderabad, where she refined her expertise in this demanding specialty.
Dr. Bhoi describes her journey as rigorous yet profoundly rewarding. Surgical training demands discipline, precision, emotional resilience, and unwavering focus. Over the years, she has been part of numerous life changing procedures that correct deformities while rebuilding self esteem and social confidence, especially in children. For her, surgery is not only about correcting anatomy. It is about restoring dignity, hope, and a renewed sense of belonging.
She draws inspiration from her husband, mentors, and senior surgeons who exemplified excellence, compassion, and perseverance. Their guidance motivated her to push her boundaries and strive for mastery. As a woman in a traditionally male dominated surgical field, she acknowledges the challenges of balancing professional intensity with personal responsibilities. At times, proving capability required extra effort. Yet these experiences strengthened her confidence and resilience.
Beyond surgery, she remains committed to continuous learning, academic engagement, and mentoring young students. She values time with family and believes in nurturing both professional growth and personal balance.
For Dr. Priyanka, success is not defined by titles or recognition. It is measured in the smiles of her patients and the trust families place in her hands. Each successful surgery reaffirms her purpose and reminds her why she chose this path.
Meghana V. Malkan, Co-Founder of Malkansview
Meghana V. Malkan is the Co-Founder of Malkansviewand a Wealth Mindset Coach who focuses on building the mindset required for long term holistic growth.
Her journey into trading began after marriage, when her husband, Vishal, encouraged her to explore the markets as a path that could offer greater freedom and growth than her corporate job. At first, the world of trading was completely unfamiliar. However, as she began learning and understanding market behaviour, her curiosity deepened. What started as a suggestion gradually evolved into passion and purpose.
The early phase of her journey was far from smooth. She faced significant financial losses and lost all her savings, forcing her to restart from scratch. That period was emotionally and financially testing, but it revealed a powerful truth: mindset determines outcomes. She realised she was not thinking like a long-term player and was subconsciously holding on to a backup plan. When she shifted to full commitment and long-term thinking, her trajectory began to change.
Malkansview was established in 2008 with a clear intention: to teach not just trading strategies, but the psychology behind success. Meghana immersed herself in high-performance training, deep self-development, and disciplined implementation. Over time, fear was replaced by clarity, and doubt by confidence.
As a Wealth Mindset Coach, she has helped transform many lives. Her most meaningful moments come when students share that her guidance changed not only their finances, but their overall outlook on life.
Her biggest inspirations are her mentors, her husband Vishal, and her children. Vishal has been her strongest support system, while her children motivate her to lead by example. As a woman in a traditionally male-dominated trading space, she has faced scepticism and the constant need to prove credibility. Balancing ambition with personal responsibilities was also challenging, but these experiences strengthened her resilience.
Beyond her profession, she is committed to continuous learning, mentoring aspiring traders, and encouraging women to become financially aware and confident.
Her message is clear: do not limit yourself because of fear or societal expectations. With commitment, discipline, and the right mindset, transformation is possible. For Meghana, true success is not just financial growth, but personal evolution.
Ms. Jinal Vinit Gala, Director & Founder – Purple Grape Company
Ms. Jinal Vinit Gala is the Director and Founder of Purple Grape Company, and a choreographer, dance therapist, anchor, and event organiser with nearly three decades of experience in the performing arts industry. Her journey began with a deep love for music and dance and evolved into a multifaceted career built on creativity, discipline, and purpose.
Her greatest inspiration has always been her father. Though not a dancer himself, he instilled in her the values that became the backbone of her career: integrity, positivity, and the courage to face challenges without compromising principles. He taught her to learn from setbacks and move forward with a smile. She also credits her dance teachers from Mumbai, across India, and in London for shaping her artistry and confidence. Their mentorship laid the foundation for her growth and success.
One of the significant challenges she has faced is being perceived as a workaholic woman among family and friends. Balancing personal responsibilities with professional commitments has required conscious effort. Over time, she learned that structured planning and maintaining a disciplined calendar are essential to ensuring that no aspect of life is neglected. With self-belief, motivation, and unwavering family support, she has built a rhythm that allows both her personal and professional lives to flourish.
As a mother to a 10-year-old, she embraces the unexpected responsibilities and joys that motherhood brings. Rather than seeing it as a limitation, she views it as a parallel journey that has grown alongside her career in harmony. For her, motherhood and ambition are not opposites but complements.
Outside her profession, she values personal time deeply. She enjoys travelling, gardening, playing cricket and pickleball, socialising, indulging in spa sessions, and shopping, which she calls her therapy. These moments recharge her and keep her grounded.
Her message to aspiring professionals and women entrepreneurs is powerful: you are not defined by a single role. You are individuals with your own identity. Amid responsibilities, never neglect your “me time.” Even one hour dedicated to yourself daily can transform your mindset and your environment. A fulfilled woman creates positivity wherever she goes.
For Ms. Jinal Vinit Gala, success is not just professional recognition. It is the ability to grow, balance, and remain true to herself while inspiring others along the way.
Meena Mundada, Founder – The Freedom Park
Meena Mundada is the founder of The Freedom Park, a mother–toddler learning and bonding space where early childhood development meets maternal empowerment. As a Parent Toddler Specialist, she designs experiential sessions and workshops where mothers and young children learn, play, explore, and grow together in an environment built on connection and trust.
Her journey began with motherhood. Becoming a mother transformed her perspective on early childhood. She saw firsthand how deeply the early years shape a child’s confidence, curiosity, and emotional security. At the same time, she realised that mothers need support, reassurance, and community just as much as children need stimulation. What started as small, interactive sessions gradually evolved into The Freedom Park — a space that celebrates childhood while empowering mothers.
For the past 15 years, she has conducted mother–toddler sessions across multiple cities and centers, consistently working toward one vision: strengthening the foundation of early childhood while building confident, emotionally secure mothers. Through play based sessions, themed experiential events, fruit farm visits, storytelling enactments, and sensory workshops, she has connected with and impacted thousands of families. Her work goes beyond teaching children. It focuses equally on helping mothers feel seen, heard, and capable in their parenting journey.
Building something unconventional was not easy. There were no shortcuts. It required consistency, creativity, resilience, and unwavering belief. Work related to children and motherhood is often underestimated, despite demanding structure, strategy, and emotional intelligence. As a woman entrepreneur, being taken seriously was sometimes a challenge. Balancing family life while nurturing a growing platform required emotional strength. Yet she views being a woman as her greatest asset. Empathy, intuition, and emotional awareness form the core of her leadership.
Beyond The Freedom Park, she nurtures an active community of mothers through social media, sharing reflections and parenting insights. She is also a tarot reader, numerologist, crystal and angelic healer, and graphologist. Her interest in intuitive sciences reflects her belief that growth is intellectual, emotional, and spiritual. She continuously studies child development, maternal psychology, and human behaviour, always evolving. She also finds joy in cooking and experimenting in her kitchen, another creative expression of nurturing. Above all, she identifies as a mother first, a role that shapes everything she builds.
Her message to aspiring entrepreneurs is direct. Start before you feel ready. Courage creates clarity. Build something aligned with your values rather than trends. Consistency matters more than perfection. Self belief matters more than external approval.
For Meena Mundada, success is measured by impact. When a mother feels more confident or a shy toddler begins to engage joyfully, that is real achievement. The Freedom Park is not just a business. It is a movement toward mindful parenting, empowered mothers, and joyful childhoods.
This Women’s Day, she celebrates every woman who chooses courage over comfort, purpose over pressure, and growth over fear. When a woman rises, she lifts generations with her.
Dr. Nikita Kulkarni, Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist
Dr. Nikita Kulkarni is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with advanced training in Minimally Invasive Surgery, Robotic Surgery, and Preventive Oncology, and a strong clinical interest in high-risk obstetrics. Her work is grounded in precision, compassion, and a commitment to delivering safe, evidence-based care to women across all stages of life.
Medicine, for Dr. Kulkarni, has always been a long-term commitment rather than a career choice driven by convenience. She was drawn to Obstetrics and Gynaecology because of its unique ability to influence a woman’s life at some of her most defining moments, including puberty, pregnancy, illness, and menopause. The specialty’s blend of science, surgery, critical decision-making under pressure, and deep human connection resonated strongly with her, making it a natural fit.
Her professional journey has been one of consistent learning and resilience. After completing her postgraduate training, Dr. Kulkarni chose to further specialise in minimally invasive and robotic surgery, along with preventive oncology, driven by her belief that women deserve access to the safest and most advanced medical care available. Working across varied healthcare setups has given her valuable insight into both clinical practice and healthcare systems, strengthening her ability to deliver patient-centric care.
Alongside her clinical work, she has placed strong emphasis on patient education. Dr. Kulkarni believes that informed women are empowered women, capable of making better health decisions for themselves and their families. Today, she continues to balance active clinical practice with continuous upskilling and extending health education beyond the consultation room.
Her inspiration comes from women doctors who have demonstrated that competence, compassion, and integrity do not have to come at the cost of one another. She also draws strength from her patients, whose resilience in the face of physical, emotional, and social challenges continues to motivate her. As a woman in medicine, she has navigated high expectations, professional scrutiny, and the constant demand to balance personal and professional roles. Moments of exhaustion and self doubt have been part of the journey but they have only strengthened her resolve.
Beyond clinical work, Dr. Kulkarni actively engages in medical education and public health awareness, particularly through digital platforms where she simplifies complex medical topics for the general population. She also deeply values time with her family, especially her eight-month-old son.
For her, success is defined not by milestones alone, but by the ability to keep learning, adapt, and show up with honesty and compassion every day. She attributes her journey to God’s grace and the trust her patients place in her, believing that real success lies in continuous growth without losing empathy.
Priyanka Nagpal, Yoga teacher & Sound healer
Priyanka Nagpal is a yoga teacher and sound healer whose work is rooted in lived experience, resilience, and deep inner transformation. For her, yoga is not just a practice. It is a way of life.
Her relationship with yoga began as many people’s does, as a form of workout that built strength and flexibility. However, in 2024, her life took an unexpected turn when she was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition, Rheumatoid Arthritis. Her body began to ache without reason, and her joints grew stiff. Doctors informed her that the condition could be managed through lifelong medication, including steroids and anti-malarials commonly prescribed in many such cases.
Instead of focusing only on symptom management, Priyanka felt compelled to understand the root cause of what her body was experiencing. She immersed herself in research and connected with others navigating similar diagnoses. She learned that autoimmune conditions involve the immune system attacking the body’s own tissues, and that triggers are often linked to lifestyle patterns and prolonged emotional suppression.
The years 2022 and 2023 had been emotionally challenging for her, marked by deep personal distress and witnessing loved ones endure betrayal. She felt helpless, and the emotional weight lingered. A naturopath advised her to return to herself and adopt yoga as a way of life. Though she did not fully understand what that meant at the time, she decided to study yoga in depth for her own healing.
She enrolled in the Yoga certification course at The Yoga Institute in Mumbai. What began as a personal step soon felt transformative. She learned that yoga is the union of body, mind, and soul, and that the physical body is deeply interconnected with emotions and thought patterns. Meditation helped her accept her diagnosis and strengthen her mental resilience. Breathwork became a way to reconnect with her body and cultivate calm rather than fear.
Priyanka went on to complete advanced Pranayama and Oncology Yoga courses, practising sincerely on herself. Gradually, she began noticing a reduction in pain and improved emotional balance. When she discovered Yin Yoga, she followed her intuition and enrolled in training. On the first page of her study material were the words, “Yin Yoga is also called Yoga of the joints.” It felt aligned with her journey.
Through consistent practice of Yin Yoga alongside other yogic techniques, she experienced greater stillness of mind and deeper meditation. Her exploration then led her to Sound Healing, where she studied the philosophy that human beings are not merely physical bodies, but also energetic systems. She resonated with the belief that the quality of energy we cultivate influences our experience of health and well-being.
As her condition stabilised and her health markers improved under medical monitoring, her personal healing journey began to merge with teaching. She started holding classes, sharing practices that had supported her own recovery and emotional strength. Within a year, her rheumatoid arthritis levels reduced significantly without long-term dependency on medication, under professional guidance. Yoga became embedded into every aspect of her life, from her food choices to her relationships, from how she begins her day to how she rests at night.
Priyanka finds inspiration in people who are struggling yet seeking healing. She believes the human body is nothing short of miraculous and wishes to empower others to recognise their own innate capacity for well-being. At the same time, she acknowledges a key challenge. Many people look for quick fixes, while inner work demands patience and honest self-confrontation. She does not oppose medical treatment and encourages individuals to seek appropriate care. However, she also advocates for combining medical support with inner inquiry and lifestyle alignment where possible.
Dr. Shilpa R.K – Dermatologist & Founder – Nishka Skin Clinic
Dr. Shilpa R.K is a Dermatologist and the founder of Nishka Skin Clinic. Coming from a family filled with doctors, medicine was always a natural part of her life. However, there was no dermatologist in her family, and she chose to carve her own distinct path within the medical field.
Her journey has been steady and progressive. She believes growth never truly stops and that one must continue working harder and refining skills with time. For her, progress is ongoing, and every phase demands renewed effort and learning.
Her greatest inspiration has been her mother, who supported her unconditionally in every aspect of life. She credits her strength, values, and resilience to her mother’s guidance and presence, and she deeply misses her. That emotional foundation continues to motivate her in both her personal and professional life.
As a woman, she believes responsibility naturally multiplies. Managing a medical practice while caring for family requires patience, balance, and emotional strength. She emphasizes that it is not the responsibilities themselves, but how one chooses to handle them with calmness and determination that truly matters.
Outside her profession, Dr. Shilpa enjoys dancing. Though not formally trained, she considers it her stress buster and a source of joy. She also loves spending time with little children, which brings her peace and happiness.
Her message is clear and grounded. Life will always present challenges. One must stay focused on personal goals, create a clear path, and rise above hurdles with patience and hard work. There is absolutely no substitute for consistent effort.
When called successful, she responds with humility. For her, success is not defined by earning degrees or practicing cosmetology. Success is a continuous journey. It is about growth, persistence, and the willingness to keep moving forward without complacency.
