Ashwanth Vidhya, Mumbai Uncensored, 25th June 2021:

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) will test the Agni Prime, a variant of Agni-I which was tested in 1984 and inducted into service in 2004, on or between the 28th and 29th of June from a defense facility off the coast of Odisha. This development comes after the lifting of some restrictions in many parts of the country after the second wave of the pandemic brought things to a halt.

The new missile will have a range from 1000 km to 1500 km and will have two stages unlike the Agni-I, which had a range from 700 km to 900 km and had one stage. It will be lighter and will have the technology used in Agni-IV and Agni-V whose ranges range from 4000 km to 5000 km, respectively.

According to sources, if things go as planned, the missile will be test fired on Monday.
