Ukraine nuclear plant attacked by Russian military

After a week of the start of the Russian – Ukrainian war and following the announcement of Moscow to commence further “military operations “ or invasions in Ukraine, Russia now attacked Europe’s largest nuclear plant in Ukraine. The attack is very concerning as a high amount of elevated levels of radiation are being detected in the area of the nuclear power plant. The Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant was shell bombed by the Russian military.

While the United Nations atomic agency says it has been in contact with the Ukrainian government and reported on the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant after the building was shelled by the Russian military, that has been no release of radiation in the plant that was targeted. 

the regulator and controller of the nuclear power plant has reported to the director-general of the International Atomic Energy that the situation in the plant continues to be extremely tense and challenging. further, due to the shelling the power plant building had caught fire which can result in a nuclear disaster.

The invasion of Ukraine is a matter of very much concern with respect to different nations including India. The attacks are now escalating in Ukraine and the concern regarding the harm of people and civilians has become a matter of concern for a lot of countries.

As countries are trying to impose more sanctions on Russia and pass resolutions in the United Nations, nuclear power plant damage may further add to the list of highly destructive harm which is happening due to the war.
