As the 7th and the last phase of the UP election are about to commence on Monday on 7th March 2022 every party is giving their last shot to change the course of the election. This phase of election focuses on the Poorvanchal area consisting of Nine districts – Azamgarh, Mau, Ghazipur, Jaunpur, Chandauli, Varanasi, Bhadohi, Mirzapur and Sonbhadra – with 54 seats.

The Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi held a roadshow in Varanasi yesterday. This campaign is going to be the last in Varanasi by him for the current election of 2022 before the polling. PM Modi is in Poorvanchal for 3 days to campaign for election. Varanasi being his constituency from the 2014 Lok Sabha election, is very important for the PM and the BJP party to win this constituency again. Modi arrived in his Varanasi Lok Sabha constituency after addressing a rally in Mirzapur and began the roadshow after garlanding a statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at Maldahiya crossing. The crowd chanted “Jai Shri Ram” and “Har Har Mahadev”, and showered rose petals as the prime minister’s convoy moved through the city to cover a distance of a little over three kilometres. PM Modi covered all three divisions namely Cantonment, Varanasi North and Varanasi South. PM Modi held a very powerful show to support the BJP candidates for the final phase of the UP election.

On the other hand, Gandhi’s arrived at the Kashi Vishwanath temple before the commencement of polling. Akhilesh Yadav and Mamta Banerjee also continued campaigns on the last days to get the major share of votes like the 2012 elections. BSP is trying too hard to get some vote share this time.

PM Modi will wind up his trip on Saturday with a rally in Khajuria village under the Rohaniya assembly seat after seeking for support for the BJP candidates.

At the current state of Polling, it can be anyone’s game. BJP didn’t perform well in the Poorvanchal area in the 2017 elections while SP garnered quite a share of votes in the last polling. Both the parties are implementing different strategies to win this phase of election as this area comprises of the major share of the OBC community where just caste politics won’t do the job.
