Khushi Thapa, Mumbai Uncensored, 11th July 2022:
In response to the landmark Roe v. Wade decision by the Supreme Court, President Joe Biden will sign an executive order on Friday to preserve abortion rights.
The White House said Biden will speak “on protecting access to reproductive health care services” Friday morning. The measures he was expected to present are aimed to strive to lessen certain potential consequences that women seeking abortions may experience as a result of the decision, but they fall short of being able to guarantee access to abortion across the country.
Biden is expected to sign the executive order in a ceremony in the Roosevelt Room. Kamala Harris, the vice president, is also expected to attend. In the wake of the Supreme Court’s decision, the President is impotent to take any action to reinstate the nation’s right to an abortion. Biden has conceded in public that he has few alternatives for increasing access to abortion care and has urged Americans to elect more lawmakers who support federal legislation ensuring access to abortion care in November’s midterm elections.
Furthermore, to protect women’s access to abortion, The American president is expected to issue formal directives to the Departments of Justice and Health and Human Services to oppose efforts to restrict women’s access to federally approved abortion medicine or their ability to traverse state boundaries to get clinical abortion services. In an effort to protect women who seek or use abortion services, Biden’s executive order would also instruct agencies to work to enlighten healthcare professionals and insurers on how and when they are required to share private patient information with authorities. Additionally, he will request that the Federal Trade Commission create an interagency task group to coordinate federal efforts to defend access to abortion and take action to protect the privacy of persons looking for information about reproductive care online.
