NMDC recently commemorated World PR Day with an engaging session held at its head office, attended by key figures including Shri Amitava Mukherjee (CMD, Addl. Charge) and Shri B Vishwanath (CVO). The event featured distinguished speakers such as Shri Samir Kapur from IIMC, New Delhi, and Shri Sudhakar Reddy from The Times Of India, who shared their insights on the evolving landscape of Public Relations (PR) and Communication in today’s digital era.
The session commenced with a warm welcome by Smt. G Priyadarshini, CGM (P&A), followed by opening remarks from Shri P Jaya Prakash, GM (CC). Shri Samir Kapur and Shri Sudhakar Reddy delved into the theme, ‘The Future Of Public Relations in a Changing World,’ discussing post-COVID transformations in the PR industry, current trends, and the integration of new digital tools and techniques.Reflecting on the importance of PR, Shri Samir Kapur emphasized its role in storytelling and maintaining positive public relationships. According to him, effective PR ensures that an organization’s image and reputation are well-managed amidst the vast information landscape.
Shri Sudhakar Reddy highlighted the profound impact of digital and social media revolutions, underscoring how algorithms and hashtags can influence public perception and even democratic processes.
Shri B Vishwanath, CVO of NMDC, acknowledged the strategic role of PR in enhancing overall business processes. He credited NMDC’s successful branding efforts under CMD’s vision, which have garnered significant attention nationwide, including prominent displays at key locations like Hyderabad airport and Lakdi-ka-Pul metro station.
Addressing the attendees, Shri Amitava Mukherjee stressed the critical aspects of effective PR and Communication strategy—what, whom, and how to communicate.
