Shubhra Chadda, Founder – Chumbak
Shubhra Chadda stands as a beacon among India’s female fashion entrepreneurs, her journey marked by a vision that breathed life into the vibrant world of Chumbak. The inception of Chumbak dawned upon Shubhra when she identified significant gaps in the Indian market, particularly the absence of a destination where individuals could carry tangible memories from their travels.
In a bold move, Shubhra and her husband, Vivek Prabhakar, decided to sell their house to fund the launch of Chumbak, a quirky lifestyle store that has since evolved into a thriving venture within the fashion and lifestyle industry. Offering a distinctive collection catering to travelers, connoisseurs of aesthetics, and enthusiasts of Indian-themed souvenirs, Chumbak has grown into a prominent e-commerce platform encompassing a myriad of products. In 2020, reports showcased the brand’s expansive footprint, boasting more than forty branches scattered across India. Shubhra Chadda’s entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to filling market voids have not only manifested in the success of Chumbak but also solidified her status as an inspiring figure in the realm of Indian fashion entrepreneurship.
Itika Kamra, Fashion & Lifestyle Influencer
Itika Kamra is a dedicated content creator whose journey into the world of fashion and lifestyle content began five years ago, during the COVID-19 pandemic. What many saw as a time of uncertainty, Itika viewed as a blessing in disguise, a period that allowed her to transform her passion for fashion into a thriving career.
Before becoming an influencer, Itika had a successful career in the corporate world, boasting over eight years of experience and holding an MBA with a specialization in finance. Despite her achievements, she always received compliments on her style and the way she carried herself whenever she stepped out. These compliments inspired her to start sharing her fashion insights and lifestyle tips online.
“My mom has always been my inspiration and my biggest cheerleader,” Itika shares. Her mother had a keen eye for fashion, and her impeccable sense of style left a lasting impression on Itika. “The way she carried herself was tremendous,” she recalls, highlighting the deep-rooted influence her mother had on her personal and professional life.
Being an influencer and content creator, however, comes with its own set of challenges. The market is highly competitive, and establishing oneself in this space requires immense effort and dedication. “It looks very fancy, but the grass is always greener on the other side. It has its own pros and cons,” Itika explains. Despite the glamorous facade, the reality involves hard work and perseverance.
For aspiring content creators, Itika offers invaluable advice: “Consistency is key. Your channel or Instagram page should never be out of content. If you want to be seen and noticed, you should post consistently. If not a post or a reel every day, then at least stories.” She emphasizes that while competition is fierce, each person is unique, and it’s this uniqueness that will make them stand out. Itika Kamra’s dedication and talent have earned her numerous awards and recognitions in the industry. She was honored as a Fashion Influencer at the 14th Global Film Festival and named the Best Upcoming Lifestyle Digital Creator by SWLA. She has also served as a panelist at IPRCC 2023 for Exchange for Media and was a Guest of Honour at the India Designer Show. Additionally, she has been invited to serve as a jury member at IPRCC 2024, further solidifying her influence and impact in the fashion and lifestyle domain.
Itika’s journey has not been without personal hardships. She faced a life-altering challenge when she lost her mother two years ago. “My life turned upside down,” she reflects. There were moments when she considered giving up, but each time, she emerged stronger. Her mother’s words, “Try, try till you succeed,” became her mantra, driving her forward even in the toughest times.
“It’s important to never give up, no matter how hard it gets,” she advises. Itika’s resilience and determination have become a source of inspiration for many. Her message to fellow content creators is clear and powerful: “I grow, you grow, we grow.”

With a master’s degree in clinical psychology, her fascination with human behavior and emotions has been a driving force in her life. This break allowed her to rediscover her purpose, ultimately leading her to the world of coaching.
Inspired by her own transformative experience with life coaching, Neelam realized that she wanted to help others find clarity, motivation, and direction in their lives. She saw a gap where many people, though brimming with potential, lacked the push and safe space needed to truly pursue their dreams. Neelam is dedicated to bringing coaching into the mainstream, helping people understand that sometimes all they need is a little guidance rather than counseling.

Deepika Bhalla is an author and a businesswoman, balancing her role in her family’s jewelry business, Bharata Ji Di Hatti in Amritsar, with her passion for writing. She is the author of the children’s book Story of the Ordinary. Writing has always been a part of her life, but it wasn’t until the COVID-19 pandemic that she took the leap and submitted her manuscripts to publishing houses. To her surprise, a Pune-based publisher accepted her work, and from there, her journey as an author took off.

Sudha Murthy’s focus on storytelling rather than using complicated language resonates with Deepika, and she has immense respect for Murthy’s roles as an entrepreneur, mother, wife, and speaker. Deepika believes that with a positive mindset and a smile, anything is achievable.
As a hands-on mother and a professional, Deepika acknowledges the challenges that come with balancing multiple roles. Time is often divided between family responsibilities and her creative pursuits, but she sees this as part of the journey. The struggle to find time for writing or completing tasks is a familiar one for many women, but Deepika views it as a part of life’s unpredictability and flexibility.

Deepika’s own path is a testament to this—she moved from Mumbai to the small town of Amritsar, leaving behind an active career plan, and faced a period of uncertainty about what to do next. Seventeen years ago, there were no clear career opportunities for her, and it felt like she had to start from scratch. This challenging phase taught her that success isn’t always linear, and sometimes, the best opportunities come when you least expect them.
Deepika encourages women to remain open to new opportunities, even if they lead in unexpected directions. Flexibility and the willingness to start afresh are key, as you never know which path will lead to your success story. Samir Mehta, Restaurateur
Samir Mehta, a second-generation restaurateur, began his journey with Sonali Restaurant at just 15 years old. Now 41, he has spent over two decades modernizing and expanding the business, which was originally established by his father in 1968. Sonali Restaurant holds the distinction of being the first to introduce pav bhaji to the Saurashtra region, a pioneering move that laid the foundation for its lasting impact. In 2023, Sonali Restaurant was also recognized by BBC News as one of the oldest and finest restaurant brands in Rajkot.
From the outset, Samir faced the challenge of managing a seasoned staff who had been with the business since its inception. It took him five years to fully take control of operations, during which time he learned the intricacies of running a successful restaurant. His efforts have focused on preserving the restaurant’s legacy while adapting to modern tastes.
One of Samir’s most significant contributions came in 2014 when the family decided to sell the business. He opposed the decision, believing in its potential for growth. Today, the business boasts three outlets within the city, spanning a total of 8,000 sq. ft. of carpet area and accommodating more than 400 customers at a time.
Samir has always believed in blending tradition with innovation. In 2016, he launched a fine-dining multi-cuisine restaurant under his own brand name, Global Platter, offering dishes from around the world, including Thai, Mexican, Italian, Indian, and Chinese cuisines. The restaurant has gained significant recognition and has even received an award from Gujarat Tourism for being the Best Multi-Cuisine Restaurant in Rajkot. It was also recently visited by the famous singer Amaal Malik during his concert in Rajkot.
Another highlight in the brand’s journey is Sonali Restaurant’s recognition as the winner of “Red FM ka Thappa” for Rajkot’s Best Pav Bhaji in 2016. This milestone was achieved due to Samir’s perseverance when the family considered winding up the business. Samir resisted this decision and instead invested all his efforts into nurturing the brand, ultimately leading to this prestigious accolade.
One of Samir’s earlier contributions was extending the restaurant’s operating hours from a half-day schedule to full-day service, allowing Sonali Restaurant to cater to a broader customer base. He also introduced new cuisines, diversifying the menu to meet changing customer preferences while respecting the restaurant’s long-standing traditions. These strategic changes have kept Sonali competitive in an evolving market, ensuring its continued success.
Throughout his journey, Samir has drawn inspiration from his parents, who instilled in him a strong work ethic and resilience. His wife has been a steadfast source of support, and his children’s dedication to their own pursuits inspires him daily.
This mindset has been crucial to Samir’s success and the enduring legacy of Sonali Restaurant & Global Platter—the world cuisine.

This not only made it more accessible but also increased rental yields. After realizing the demand for quality living spaces for young professionals and students, he launched The Livlit in 2021, which has grown rapidly since its inception.

Anjali Sharma, Founder – Anjali Sharma Label
Anjali Sharma, founder of the Anjali Sharma Label, has carved a name for herself in the fashion industry through sheer determination, creativity, and a deep passion for design. From an early age, Anjali exhibited a natural inclination towards creativity, particularly in textiles and fashion. She fondly recalls designing clothes for herself and her dolls, a hobby that eventually became her lifelong passion. While her peers were pursuing more traditional careers like engineering or law, Anjali’s heart was set on fashion, even though it was not considered a respectable or viable career choice at the time within her Rajput family.
With the support of her family, Anjali enrolled in South Delhi Polytechnic, where she completed a three-year degree in fashion design. After her studies, she started her first workshop at home, designing for friends and family. Although her work was appreciated, the fashion industry at the time was not as evolved, and her initial business venture did not take off as expected. Facing skepticism due to her young age and the simplicity of fashion preferences at the time, Anjali’s first business attempt failed, leading to pressure from her family to reconsider her career choice. Following their advice, she pursued a diploma in marketing and secured jobs at several prestigious banks, including ICICI Home Loans, IndusInd Bank, and Birla Sunlife.
Despite achieving success in the corporate world, Anjali knew that her true calling was fashion design. After the birth of her son, she decided to leave her banking career and return to her first love—designing. With the full support of her husband, who not only encouraged her but also helped her financially in the early stages, Anjali resumed her fashion work from home. Despite initial struggles, her passion and hard work eventually paid off.
Anjali’s unique designs and creativity soon caught the attention of the Punjabi film industry, and she began working as a costume designer for prominent actors like Gippy Grewal, Binnu Dhillon, Yuvraj Hans, and Amrinder Gill. Her career continued to flourish, and she had the honor of designing costumes for Punjabi films and music videos. She also had the opportunity to showcase her work at a fashion show for the Times of India.
In 2022, Anjali’s dedication and talent were recognized when she was awarded the prestigious National Achievers Award and received the title of the Best Fashion Designer for Chandigarh. Her journey is a testament to the power of perseverance, passion, and following one’s dreams despite challenges.
Anjali draws inspiration from her clientele, tailoring each design to meet their specific needs and helping them shine on their special occasions. Her advice to aspiring fashion designers is clear: be driven by passion, understand that there are no shortcuts to success, and never stop refining your creativity. Despite his family’s background in precious gemstones and jewelry, Vinayak pursued his own path, receiving unwavering support from his family.
Over the past decade, Vinayak has faced numerous challenges. One of the toughest moments came in 2016 when a vendor issue during the Diwali season forced him to rethink his business model.
