Every year on July 1, India observes National Doctors Day to honour the relentless dedication, compassion and contribution of doctors who continue to shape the nation’s healthcare system. From pioneering advanced treatments and transforming patient care to building trust during moments of crisis, doctors across the country have become symbols of hope and resilience.

In this special edition, National Doctors Day 2026: Success Stories of India’s Most Inspiring Doctors, we celebrate remarkable medical professionals whose journeys, innovations and commitment to healing continue to inspire millions and redefine the future of healthcare in India.

Dr. Ankita Thosar is an Orthodontist specializing in braces and clear aligners, dedicated to transforming smiles and boosting confidence through modern orthodontic care. As the first person in her family to enter the medical profession, her journey is a testament to determination, resilience, and the unwavering support of her parents.

Her path to dentistry began with a childhood dream of becoming an architect. As she grew older, however, she discovered a deeper calling in healthcare. The idea of combining science with creativity while making a meaningful difference in people’s lives drew her toward dentistry. After successfully clearing NEET, she pursued her dream, eventually finding her true passion in orthodontics—a specialty that allows her to create healthy, confident smiles through precision and artistry.

Reflecting on her journey, Dr. Thosar describes it as a roller coaster filled with uncertainty, learning, and personal growth. Every challenge helped shape her into the clinician she is today. She believes orthodontics is about far more than straightening teeth; it is about restoring confidence and positively impacting lives through compassionate, personalized care.

Her greatest inspiration has always been her parents, whose sacrifices and constant encouragement enabled her to study at one of Maharashtra’s leading dental institutions. As a woman building a career in dentistry, she believes one of the biggest challenges was not the academic journey but establishing authority and credibility in a demanding profession. Dentistry requires years of rigorous training that often coincide with important personal milestones, making balance a continuous challenge. However, she is encouraged by the growing number of women entering the profession and believes their increasing presence is reshaping the field for the better.

Outside her clinical practice, Dr. Thosar is deeply passionate about creativity and fitness. She enjoys sketching, painting, and dancing, and has been a certified Zumba instructor for the past five years. She is also a social media influencer, using digital platforms to connect with people while balancing her professional and creative pursuits.

Her advice to aspiring professionals is simple: dentistry is a marathon, not a sprint. There will be demanding days and difficult moments, but persistence and passion make the journey worthwhile. She believes the profession is a unique blend of science, artistry, and meaningful human connection, rewarding those who remain committed to lifelong learning and excellence.

Although proud of everything she has achieved so far, Dr. Ankita Thosar sees her journey as only the beginning. She believes success is built through consistency, embracing every new challenge with confidence, and striving each day to become a better version of oneself. For her, every new day is another opportunity to learn, grow, and create more reasons for people to smile.
