Every year on July 1, India observes National Doctors Day to honour the relentless dedication, compassion and contribution of doctors who continue to shape the nation’s healthcare system. From pioneering advanced treatments and transforming patient care to building trust during moments of crisis, doctors across the country have become symbols of hope and resilience.

In this special edition, National Doctors Day 2026: Success Stories of India’s Most Inspiring Doctors, we celebrate remarkable medical professionals whose journeys, innovations and commitment to healing continue to inspire millions and redefine the future of healthcare in India.

Dr. Maunil Ajay Bhuta is an Interventional Radiologist whose career has been driven by one core belief: medicine should heal with precision, innovation, and the least possible burden on patients. With MD and DNB qualifications, he has dedicated his practice to minimally invasive procedures that offer faster recovery, reduced complications, and better quality of life.

Over the years, Dr. Bhuta has emerged as one of the leading voices in interventional radiology in India, treating more than 10,000 patients through advanced image-guided procedures. His expertise in vascular interventions and laser therapies has enabled countless individuals to avoid major surgeries and return to normal life sooner.

A pioneer in technology-driven healthcare, Dr. Bhuta became one of the first Interventional Radiologists in India to perform AI and Virtual Reality-assisted laser surgery for varicose veins, integrating cutting-edge tools into patient care. His work reflects a commitment to constantly pushing the boundaries of what modern medicine can achieve.

Among his most extraordinary accomplishments is performing one of the world’s most challenging angioplasties on a patient with foot gangrene caused by an 80-centimeter-long complete arterial blockage. Considered a world-record-level intervention, the procedure highlighted not only technical mastery but also the life-changing potential of minimally invasive vascular treatment.

While patient care remains central to his work, Dr. Bhuta’s vision extends far beyond the operating room. Through his initiative, “Learn in India – Treat in India,” he has focused on strengthening clinical expertise within the country. By conducting workshops and training programs in more than 50 cities, he has mentored over 2,500 doctors in advanced laser techniques and interventional procedures, helping expand access to specialized treatments across India.

His philosophy is rooted in the belief that knowledge multiplies when shared. By training doctors and embracing innovation, he aims to create a ripple effect that benefits communities far beyond his own practice.

Recently nominated for the prestigious Padma Shri Award 2026, Dr. Bhuta views recognition not as an endpoint but as motivation to contribute even more. For him, success is measured not only by the number of procedures performed, but by the lives saved, the doctors empowered, and the legacy of innovation left behind.

His journey stands as a powerful reminder that true progress in medicine comes when expertise, technology, and education come together with a single purpose—to improve lives.
