A self-taught fashion designer with a Master’s degree in English Language, Meenakshi made a bold transition from teaching to entrepreneurship, founding the Indo-Western fashion brand LABELMINAAKSHIGANGAA—now available on Amazon, Flipkart, and its own website.
Her journey began not in a bustling fashion house but on the balcony of her government home in 2012, with a 40-year-old sewing machine gifted by her mother-in-law. As someone who designed and stitched her own clothes from a young age—including her own wedding dress—Meenakshi had long harbored a creative spark. It wasn’t until 2020, during the pandemic, that she overcame her self-doubt and began selling online. What started as a humble effort has now grown into a two-story production unit.
But LABELMINAAKSHIGANGAA is more than a clothing brand—it’s a social mission. Having encountered countless women working as domestic helps out of necessity, Meenakshi recognized untapped talent hindered by lack of opportunity. Dr. Monika Bansal is an ENT Surgeon and the founder of Shankari ENT Clinic, Surat, a state-of-the-art clinic she built alongside her husband. With advanced clinical training in Rhinology and Sialoendoscopy from Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi, she is dedicated to delivering specialized ENT care while inspiring young doctors through her remarkable journey of resilience, perseverance, and unwavering commitment to medicine.
As the first doctor in her entire family, Dr. Bansal’s path to medicine was entirely self-made. Without guidance, coaching, or a medical background to rely on, she pursued her father’s dream with determination. She cleared both the NEET-UG and NEET-PG examinations in her first attempt, securing a two-digit rank in Gujarat. During her academic years, she also distinguished herself by becoming the only student from Gujarat to qualify the prestigious KVPY examination, earning an opportunity and scholarship to pursue research at IISER Bengaluru. Despite this achievement, she chose to follow her true passion—medicine.
Her greatest inspiration has always been her father, whose dream became her purpose. Throughout her journey, however, she encountered challenges that extended far beyond academics. Living away from home meant travelling alone, facing unsafe situations, and learning to navigate an unfamiliar world with courage. During medical college, she experienced social isolation after being ostracized and betrayed by a close group of friends, which led to severe anxiety. Rather than allowing those experiences to define her, she found the strength to start afresh, rebuild her confidence, and remain steadfast in pursuing her goals.
Residency brought another set of hurdles. Without family connections in the medical profession, she often had to work harder than others to earn surgical opportunities. She recalls facing bias and discouragement from some seniors, yet refused to let those experiences diminish her confidence or her passion for surgery. She remained determined to prove herself through hard work, knowledge, and skill.
Perhaps the greatest test of her resilience came during her second year of postgraduate training when she met with a devastating road accident while rushing to attend an emergency. She sustained fractures of both her femur and humerus and spent nearly a year recovering. Even while walking with the support of a walker, she continued attending the operating theatre whenever possible, determined not to let the accident derail her surgical training. Once recovered, she worked tirelessly to regain the experience she had missed, emerging stronger than ever.
Outside her profession, Dr. Bansal enjoys painting, gardening, singing, and dancing—creative pursuits that help her maintain balance amidst the demands of surgery.
Her message to aspiring doctors is both heartfelt and empowering: never quit because others expect you to. Success belongs to those who remain steadfast despite setbacks. She encourages young professionals to understand not only medicine but also human psychology, develop emotional resilience, remain humble, and never allow hardship to change their values or character. Although she graduated only six months ago, her journey has already been marked by notable achievements. She performed well in her postgraduate entrance examination and is now working towards securing an MDS seat. Her dedication during dental school earned her the National Dentist Award 2025 for Best Intern, along with an Award for Academic and Research Excellence from her college and the Global Women Award. Alongside her clinical training, she has developed a strong interest in research, authoring 10 research and review papers published in national and international journals—an accomplishment that reflects her commitment to evidence-based dentistry and continuous learning.
