During the debate in UNSC on ‘Protection of civilians in armed conflict’ India slammed Pakistan for its pro-terrorist policies, stating that, “terrorists enjoy free pass” in Pakistan and “ordinary people, especially those belonging to the minority communities, are turned upside down.” in the country. Pakistan as always raised the Kashmir issue in the security council debate to which the Indian Diplomat R Madhu Sudan gave a befitting reply. “Member states are aware that Pakistan has an established history and policy of harbouring, aiding and actively supporting terrorists”, he said on Monday. He further added, “This is a country which has been globally recognised as one openly supporting, training, financing and arming terrorists as a matter of state policy.”

In the past there have been several terror attacks in India including, 26/11 Mumbai attacks in 2008, the attack on Pathankot airbase-2015, URI attacks in 2016 and Pulwama attacks in 2019. In all these terror attacks there has been a direct connection and involvement of radical Islamic terrorist outfits like, Lashkar-E-Taiba, Jaish-e-Muhammed, Hizbul Mujahiddin. Other than terror attacks on India there have been terrorist activities carried out in the global level including the recent terror attack in Texas, United States, wherein Malik Faisal, a UK resident of Pakistani origin has been identified as the main perpetrator.

Speaking on the Kashmir issue India said, “The entire Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh were, are and will always be an integral and inalienable part of India, irrespective of what the representative of Pakistan believes or covets. This includes the areas that are under the illegal occupation of Pakistan. We call upon Pakistan to immediately vacate all areas under its illegal occupation.” “However, any meaningful dialogue can be held only in an atmosphere free of terror, hostility and violence. The onus is on Pakistan to create such a conducive atmosphere. Till then, India will continue to take firm and decisive steps to respond to cross-border terrorism,” India said.
