On Twitter, the latest trend in #BoycottHyundai after the manufacturing company tweeted on Kashmir Solidarity Day from their official Pakistan handle. The official on their Twitter account wrote, “Let us remember the sacrifices of our Kashmiri brothers and stand in support as they continue to struggle for freedom.”

The message has received a huge backlash from Indians as it was siding with Pakistan. People criticised the company for tweeting on such sensitive matters.

Lakhs of Indians have been coming together to express anger against the company after it failed to react to the issue promptly.

However, the South Korean company has finally issued an apology which says-

“ Hyundai Motor India has been committed to the Indian market for more than 25 years now and we stand firmly for our strong ethos of respecting nationalism.

The unsolicited social media post linking Hyundai Motor India is offending our unparalleled commitment and service to this great company. India is a second home to the Hyundai brand and we have a zero-tolerance policy towards insensitive communication and we strongly condemn any such view.

As part of our commitment to India, we will continue our efforts towards the betterment of the country as well as its citizens.”

However, the netizens did not find the apology enough. They accused the South Korean company of not speaking against the pro-terrorism stand it earlier took and thousands of social media users are all set to boycott Hyundai.

IPS Arun Bothra who is followed by lakhs of people said, “In my personal capacity and with limited reach, I request everyone not to buy a #Hyundai vehicle. First time supporting a boycott call. Let’s #BoycottHyundai. They have no respect for our national sentiments. The half-hearted statement below tells that they have no remorse also.”
