PayPal Holdings Inc (PYPL.O), which operates a payments platform, suspended its operations in Russia early on Saturday due to the current circumstances, joining many other businesses and financial organizations in shutting down operations in the country.

President and Chief Executive Dan Schulman said in a statement that PayPal has suspended operations in Russia due to the current circumstances. He informed that the company “stands with the international community in condemning Russia’s violent military aggression in Ukraine.”

withdrawals will be allowed, informed PayPal spokesperson, “for a period of time, ensuring that account balances are dispersed in line with applicable laws and regulations.”

PayPal stopped accepting new Russian customers on Wednesday, which had been the only way for Russian users to transact cross-border.

PayPal was being asked by Ukrainian government officials to quit Russia and assist with fundraising.

On Friday, PayPal stated that “since the beginning of the invasion, PayPal has helped raise over $150 million for charities supporting response efforts in Ukraine, one of the largest efforts we’ve seen in such a short period of time.”

Xoom, PayPal’s money transfer tool in Russia, has also been suspended. A few of Rivals Wise’s services were suspended in Russia earlier this year.
