In a horrifying event, a man killed his 18-year-old daughter and her 21-year-old partner in Morena, Madhya Pradesh, in what is believed to be an instance of honour killing. He then dropped their bodies into the crocodile-infested Chambal river

According to media reports, Shivani Tomar and Radheshyam Tomar were allegedly murdered in the Morena district’s Ratanbasai village. Shivani’s family was adamantly opposed to her connection with Radheshyam, who was from the nearby village of Balupura, according to NDTV, which cited the police

After Radheshyam’s father complained to the authorities that his son and the woman had been missing for several days and that he feared they had been murdered, the killings were made public. The police initially believed that both had fled. Nobody in the village had seen the two leave, though.

Missing complaints point to murders

The two bodies are believed to be in the Chambal river, but police in the Morena district’s Ambah area and a team from the state disaster emergency response force (SDERF) are still looking for them.

Shivani’s father Rajpal Singh Tomar reported her missing to the Ambah police station on June 3, according to Sub-Divisional Officer Police (SDOP) Parmal Singh Mehra in the Morena district. The following day, Radheyshyam’s family also filed a report about Shivani, the NIE stated

The girl’s father admits it

“After a protracted investigation and interrogation of both families, the girl’s father, Rajpal Singh Tomar, finally revealed that he had killed Shivani and Radheyshyam after catching them together. The Chambal river was then used as a burial site for both bodies, according to the SDOP.

Radheyshyam’s family claims that he eloped with the girl last month and that they were later discovered in the adjoining state of Uttar Pradesh. On June 1, Radheyshyam’s family received a call from Shivani’s father warning them to encourage their son to modify his behaviour and find a new home.
