Mumbai, India – A Bangladeshi woman who had been living in India illegally for over three decades was arrested at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport after arriving from Kuwait. Authorities discovered that the woman, who had entered India around 1992, had been residing in the country without legal documentation for approximately 33 years.

The woman had allegedly married an Indian man and used the marriage to acquire forged identity documents, including an Indian passport. The passport, first issued in 2016, was renewed multiple times and used for international travel. She had reportedly spent the last six years working in Kuwait before returning to India.

During routine immigration checks, discrepancies in her documents were identified, prompting further investigation. Upon questioning, she admitted to being a Bangladeshi national and confessed to having used forged documents to obtain Indian citizenship and travel abroad.

She has been booked under various sections related to forgery, illegal entry, and misrepresentation of identity. The police are now investigating how she managed to obtain the Indian passport and whether others were involved in facilitating her long-term illegal stay in the country.

This incident has raised concerns about gaps in the verification process for official documents and the potential misuse of marital ties to obtain false identification.
