On the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri, Sanatan Students Community Of Consciousness along with its parent bodies Mind Culture Community and Saffron Think Tank organized an online event “Mahashivratri Dhyan Mahotsav.”

The fourteenth day of every lunar month or the day before the new moon is known as Shivratri. Among all the twelve Shivaratri that occur in a calendar year, Mahashivratri – the one that occurs in February-March is the most significant one as on this day the planet is positioned in such a way that there is a natural upsurge of energy in a human being. It’s a day nature pushes one towards a spiritual peak.

So Mahashivratri Dhyan Mahotsav (Under the initiative of Yog For Youth) as the motto of Sanatan Students Community Of Consciousness goes – to culture the mind of the students with divine golden cosmic light in self. Various devotional programs like invoking Adiyogi and Maharshi Patanjali,  Maha Aarti, Bhajan and Kirtan, 108 rounds of collective OM chanting were held by the students for the students to raise Global Consciousness.

Along with it, profound and intense discussions on the science of Mahashivratri and the role it plays in our life were carried out. “Today when we talk about Mahadev, most of the youngsters know him for just one dimension of him i.e. he is the destructor, but the dimension not many are aware of is of him being the Adiyogi, the first yog scientist, the first one to identify feelings like lust, greed, anger are all within us.” Said Devika Malhotra, Member of the Student Community Of Consciousness. Further another student member, Priyanshu Pandey added “The one who represents unity, the one who teaches us how to come into yog from the state of viyog, Gauri – Shankar Milan represents his masculine and feminine aligned, left brain and the right brain aligned, ida and pingala aligned, the sun and the moon aligned and that’s how Shiv ji had the magical experience of knowing that one can be happy on their own after which he said “you are the possibility – you are the problem” which can also be seen as ‘you are the light- you are the darkness.’

Pooja Singh urged youth for Dhyaan (Meditation) by sharing collective learnings of the members of the community with dhyan practice. She also gave scientific insights on how eradicating psychological disorders from the root is possible with the yogic sciences. Anirudh Bhutra and Damodar Singh explained about the scientific benefits of OM chanting like chanting OM Improves Blood circulation, Reduces Stress, Improves Focus and Concentration, Reduces Anxiety and Depression, Relaxes Muscles, Improves Nervous function, Improves Digestive health and above all gives a complete sense of control to yourself with an insightful quote “Sound of OM takes us back to the creation of Universe and its power.”

The aim of this Mahotsav was to motivate youth to move towards a yogic lifestyle. As well as for raising collective world consciousness, spiritual awakening and establishment of world peace in the current times of trouble.

The Grand Event concluded with Students thanking their Gurus – Durga Sawant and Siddhant Mohite along with prayer, Shanti Path – Om Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah.
