She holds an MBBS, MD in Medicine, where she was awarded the Maharashtra State Gold Medal, followed by a DM in Nephrology, and is currently pursuing her PhD.

Medicine was a natural calling for Dr. Makan, who grew up in a family deeply rooted in healthcare. Watching her parents dedicate their lives to caring for patients left a lasting impression on her. They did not simply practice medicine; they lived it. Their example shaped her values, inspired her purpose, and guided her toward a career devoted to healing and service.

Reflecting on her journey, Dr. Makan describes every chapter of her life, as a daughter, student, athlete, artist, and physician, as both humbling and enriching. Rather than focusing solely on past achievements, she remains driven by a sense of purpose and continuous growth. For her, the most exciting milestones are still ahead.

Her parents remain her greatest inspiration and earliest role models. Seeing the positive impact they made in people’s lives motivated her to follow a similar path and dedicate herself to making a meaningful difference through medicine.

What makes Dr. Makan’s story particularly unique is her ability to excel far beyond the medical profession. Dr. Rohit Pethe, Dermatologist

Dr. Rohit Pethe is a dermatologist practicing in Pimpri-Chinchwad, dedicated to helping patients achieve healthier skin, hair, and nails while restoring their confidence and quality of life. Through a combination of clinical expertise, aesthetic treatments, and compassionate care, he works closely with patients to address both medical and cosmetic dermatological concerns.

His journey into medicine was driven by a fascination with the unique intersection of science and human connection. During the course of his medical education, dermatology stood out as a specialty capable of delivering visible, life-changing results. Unlike many internal medical conditions, skin and hair concerns are often seen by the world, affecting not only physical health but also self-esteem and confidence.

Recognizing the emotional impact these conditions can have, Dr. Pethe was drawn to a field where he could make a meaningful difference in how people feel about themselves. What began as an interest gradually evolved into a passion, and today he remains committed to continuously advancing his knowledge and providing the highest standard of care to his patients.

His professional journey has been shaped by discipline, consistency, and a commitment to growth. Alongside academics and clinical practice, sports have played a significant role in his life. Basketball, in particular, taught him resilience, teamwork, and the ability to perform under pressure—qualities that continue to guide him in both medicine and life.

One principle that defines his approach is the belief that consistency matters more than motivation. It is a lesson he applies personally and often shares with his patients, especially those undergoing long-term treatments that require patience and perseverance to achieve lasting results.

Beyond professional development, Dr. Pethe places equal importance on personal, spiritual, and mental growth. He finds fulfillment in sharing his knowledge through guest lectures and patient education initiatives, helping people better understand their health and make informed decisions.

His greatest inspiration is his father, Dr. Suresh Pethe, a respected dermatologist who has dedicated more than 35 years to patient care. Watching his father’s unwavering commitment, compassion, and work ethic left a lasting impression on him. Through him, Dr. Pethe learned the values of patience, gratitude, perseverance, and service—principles that continue to shape his own medical practice today.

Outside dermatology, basketball remains a significant part of his identity. He also enjoys travelling, hiking, and spending time in nature, believing that some of life’s greatest lessons and moments of clarity are found outdoors. Equally important to him is spending quality time with family and friends, maintaining the balance that he considers essential for a healthy and meaningful life.

His message to aspiring professionals and entrepreneurs is straightforward:

“Stay consistent even when you don’t feel motivated. Success rarely happens overnight. Focus on improving yourself every day, even if progress seems slow. Most importantly, don’t lose yourself while chasing success. Your health, relationships, and peace of mind matter too.”

For Dr. Rohit Pethe, success is not measured by titles or achievements alone. It is reflected in the lives he positively impacts each day. Every patient who regains confidence after treatment, every child who smiles again after recovery, and every individual who feels genuinely heard and cared for serves as a reminder of why he chose this profession.

His aspiration remains simple yet powerful—to continue growing as a doctor, serve people with honesty and compassion, and leave a positive impact wherever life takes him.

Dr. Komal Nanavati, Pediatric & Preventive Dentist

Dr. Komal Nanavati is a Pediatric and Preventive Dentist dedicated to helping children build healthy, confident smiles from an early age. Through her practice, Tiny Tooth Tales in South Mumbai, she has created a child-friendly space where young patients feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while developing a positive relationship with oral healthcare.

Her journey into pediatric dentistry was driven by a genuine love for working with children. Their energy, honesty, and innocence made every interaction meaningful, and she realized that helping children achieve healthy smiles was a profession that combined both purpose and fulfillment. This vision eventually led to the creation of Tiny Tooth Tales, a practice focused not only on dental treatment but also on building trust and making dental visits a positive experience.

After completing her undergraduate studies, Dr. Nanavati spent three years practicing general dentistry, gaining valuable clinical experience and learning from some of the most respected professionals in the field. These years helped her develop a strong foundation in patient care and gave her the clarity to pursue her true passion—pediatric dentistry. She later completed her specialization and went on to work as a consultant across multiple clinics and hospitals, gaining diverse clinical exposure and expertise.

Today, alongside running Tiny Tooth Tales, she serves as a member of the teaching faculty at the Indian Dental Association and continues to consult at several hospitals and clinics across Mumbai. Her work is driven by the belief that positive dental experiences during childhood can shape lifelong oral health habits.

Her greatest inspiration comes from the children she treats every day. Their resilience, curiosity, and trust motivate her to continuously improve and provide the highest standard of care. She also credits the support and guidance of her mentors, friends, and colleagues throughout her professional journey.

Like many women building careers in healthcare, balancing personal and professional responsibilities has been one of the challenges she has faced. Establishing herself in a competitive field required consistency, confidence, and perseverance. However, her commitment to going the extra mile for her patients has always kept her motivated.

Outside dentistry, Dr. Nanavati is a certified scuba diver who enjoys exploring the underwater world and traveling to new destinations. She loves spending time in nature, often going on safari trips with her family, and is passionate about reading and fitness. These experiences help her maintain balance, stay grounded, and recharge.

Her advice to aspiring professionals is simple: spend time in clinical practice before pursuing a specialization. Real-world experience builds confidence, strengthens clinical skills, and helps identify where your true interests lie. For her, those early years of practice provided the clarity that ultimately led her to pediatric dentistry.

Dr. Prachi Gurav, Periodontist

Dr. Prachi Gurav is a Periodontist with a strong interest in implant dentistry and advanced surgical procedures, dedicated to restoring not just smiles, but also confidence and quality of life. Her journey into dentistry was shaped by both personal passion and the dream of fulfilling her parents’ aspiration of seeing their daughter become a doctor.

Over the years, her career has evolved through continuous learning, discipline, and a willingness to constantly push beyond her comfort zone. After graduation, she discovered a deep interest in surgery, which inspired her to pursue post graduation in periodontics. As she gained exposure to advanced procedures such as full arch reconstructions and sinus lift surgeries, her passion for implant dentistry grew even stronger.

Her journey reflects both academic and professional growth. From once sitting in lecture halls as a student to later being invited as a speaker herself, she sees every milestone as a reminder of how far dedication and persistence can take a person. She has also been awarded a Fellowship in Implant Dentistry and has authored multiple research articles published in national and international journals.

The path, however, was not without challenges. Spending eight years away from home and learning to navigate life independently was emotionally demanding in the beginning. Yet those experiences shaped her into a stronger, more resilient, and self reliant individual.

What continues to inspire her most are her patients. The smiles after treatment, the gratitude, and the trust they place in her every day reaffirm why she chose this profession.

Outside dentistry, fitness plays an important role in her life. She enjoys traveling, exploring new places, seeking fresh experiences, and pursuing nature photography.

Her message to aspiring professionals is simple but powerful: never stop learning and never underestimate the value of consistency. Progress may feel slow at times, but showing up every day and staying committed to growth always matters.

For Dr. Prachi Gurav, success is not only about achievements or recognition. It is about continuous evolution, staying authentic to oneself, and growing while remaining grounded in gratitude for the people who supported the journey.

Dr. Saket Satyasham Toshniwal, Founder of CardiacAxis

Dr. Saket Satyasham Toshniwal is a DM Cardiology Resident at DY Patil University School of Medicine, Navi Mumbai, and the founder of CardiacAxis, a rapidly growing medical education platform dedicated to simplifying cardiology and clinical medicine. Balancing the demanding responsibilities of a cardiology residency with research, teaching, publishing, and digital education, he represents a new generation of doctors committed not only to patient care but also to advancing medical knowledge and learning.

Medicine, for Dr. Toshniwal, gradually evolved from a profession into a purpose. Cardiology particularly captivated him because of its precision, intensity, and the ability to save lives through timely intervention. Driven by a constant desire to learn and grow, he completed his MD in General Medicine from Datta Meghe Institute of Higher Education and Research (DMIHER), Wardha, and is currently pursuing his super-speciality training in Cardiology.

His academic journey has been marked by exceptional achievements at an early stage of his career. Within approximately three years, he has authored and co-authored more than 60 international indexed publications, accumulating nearly 200 citations and achieving an H-index of 8. His work has earned him recognition through prestigious honors including the International Best Researcher Award 2025, the Datta Meghe Researcher Award, and the title of Cureus Laureate. He also serves on the Editorial Boards of reputed Springer Nature journals, including BMC Cardiovascular Disorders and BMC Neurology, and is a JACC (Journal of the American College of Cardiology) Certified Peer Reviewer, contributing to several internationally recognized medical journals.

One of the proudest milestones in his academic career was earning the prestigious Fellow in Training (FIT) status from the American College of Cardiology during the very first year of his DM Cardiology residency. Another defining achievement was successfully clearing DNB Medicine while simultaneously managing the intense workload, emergency duties, and academic pressures of his first year in cardiology residency. These experiences reinforced his belief in consistency, discipline, and mental endurance.

His passion for education extends beyond traditional academics. Through CardiacAxis, he has created a platform that simplifies complex cardiology concepts, ECG interpretation, emergency medicine, and residency experiences for students and healthcare professionals. In less than eight months, the platform has organically grown to nearly 10,000 followers, becoming a valuable educational resource for medical learners worldwide.

Dr. Toshniwal draws inspiration from several important figures in his life, including his father, Dr. Satyasham Toshniwal, a cardiologist, his mother and sister, his mentor Dr. Sourya Acharya, and his wife, Dr. Yatika Chadha. He credits his wife for encouraging him to explore opportunities beyond conventional medicine and for inspiring the creation of CardiacAxis. Her support throughout the challenges of residency has been a constant source of strength.

Like every medical professional, his journey has involved significant sacrifices. Long ICU duties, sleepless nights, emotionally demanding emergencies, academic pressure, research commitments, and personal sacrifices have all been part of the process. Balancing clinical responsibilities with publications, presentations, examinations, and content creation often required sacrificing comfort, social life, and sleep. Yet he believes these challenges are what build resilience, humility, and character.

Outside medicine, cricket remains one of his greatest passions. Having faced a difficult childhood, the sport became both a companion and a source of strength. He is also passionate about teaching and digital education, and carries a personal dream of one day learning aviation and becoming a licensed pilot.

His message to aspiring professionals is simple: never underestimate the power of consistency. Success is rarely the result of a single breakthrough. It is built through repeated effort, discipline, and perseverance during the moments when nobody is watching. He encourages young professionals not to limit themselves to a single identity, believing that a doctor can also be an educator, researcher, creator, entrepreneur, innovator, and leader.

For Dr. Saket Toshniwal, success is not measured by titles, awards, or numbers alone. It is about creating meaningful impact through patient care, research, education, mentorship, and inspiration. Despite his achievements, he considers himself a lifelong student with much more to learn, particularly in the field of interventional cardiology.

His journey reflects a belief that has guided him throughout his career: you do not have to abandon your dreams while growing up; you simply learn how to carry them differently.
